My Evening Routine

imageI find doing as much prep as I can in the afternoon and evening allows for a more simple and stress free morning, especially with the return of school.

My afternoon and evening usually goes something like this:

2pm- make afternoon tea

2:20pm- leave to pick Tanya up

2:35pm- home, Tanya does her jobs (take off shoes, empty bag, any papers on the bench, change clothes), afternoon tea with cartoons.

3:15pm- homework

3:30pm- play (board game, baking, outside play, craft, play with William and Dad)

4:30pm- prep and cook dinner

5:30pm- dinner

6pm- outside play or shower (hair and teeth after shower)

6:30pm- shower or play, dishes

6:55pm- pick up toys with Tanya

7pm- William bed, read with Tanya

7:20pm- quiet time (read alone, cuddle on the sofa, cartoons, play in room

7:30pm- Tanya bed, shower, load of washing on, hang washing out, 10 minute pick up (great cleaning technique), complete to do list, read &/or watch TV, journal

9:30pm- bed!!!!

Can we just take a minute to talk about the last photo….in Australia a lot of our stores are really upping their game with the craft products they are stocking, my all time favourite nic nack shop (The Reject Shop) certainly has an awesome range with most of their craft items ranging from $2-$5 each these something for everyone, even if you don’t do PL.

Project Life Journey

I started scrapbooking five years ago because after having Tanya I decided I wanted to document our family memories in a more detailed and fun way than the traditional photo album.

I started by Googling scrapbook supplies and came across my all time favourite site scrapbook.com but I was devastated to learn it was in American and postage was a killer, we only had the one income at the time so money had to be spent carefully. On a visit to Spot Light with my Mum I was super happy to come across an amazing selection of scrapbook supplies right at my finger tips and then to find Kmart and Big W had a pretty good selection too. We were living in the Northern Territory at the time and there wasn’t much of a choice so these stores were a god sent!

I have a facination with flowers but I find it difficult to use them in my layouts as there so bulky.

I store all my card stock and papers in there Cropper Hopper sleeves.

Skip forward five years and I have since come across some amazing Australian scrapbook supply stores. Here are a couple of the stores I frequently visit (even if its just for a look)

Then last year I came across a post about Project Life. I thought it was an interesting way of scrapping but left it at that as I had already accumulated tons of craft supplies and didn’t want to spend  more $$$ on supplies only to find I didn’t like it. Well that thearory lasted about 4 months until I finally realised I simply didn’t have the time to do the traditional style and this PL might be what I was after…a fun and less time consuming way of documenting our memories. I did some research and brought my first core kit: Strawberry.  10 months later and I now have a nice little collection of core, value and mini kits and embellishments.

I know quite a few ladies do their albums  weekly but I knew this wouldnt suit me so I do mine monthly. At the beginning of every month I print off the previous months photos and then have the whole month to do my layouts. I tend to set aside a few hours every week, mainly when the kids are in bed, Tanya’s at school or on a Sunday to do my layouts. I’ve found that deign F page protectors work best for the way I photograph.

Let me introduce myself

Hello,

My names Tamara. I am a 27 year old Mum to two, Tanya 5 and William almost 1. My partner, our children and I live in Northern Queensland with our cat Tilly and puppy Mia.

I have been thinking about starting a blog for several months now but like most people had no idea where to start but I took the leap and here I am. I hope you enjoy my blog and if you have any questions please ask away 🙂

Along with being a Mum I am also a self confessed planner and stationery addict. I enjoy Project Life, horse riding, reading, writing to my pen pals, organising our home,  walking, cooking, baking, netball and journaling in general.

Thanks for stopping by.

Back to work I go. I’ve worked on and off since Tanya was 2 as I also studied for 18 months. Being able to help my family financially is wonderful but getting out of the house and socialising with others is such a relief.
